Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Performs responsible skilled and technical work in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant equipment.  Graduation from high school and some experience in operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment used in a wastewater treatment plant.  Some knowledge of hydraulic, chemical and mechanical principles pertinent to wastewater treatment operations.  Ability to read meters and charts accurately and to maintain records in shift operations; some skill in use and care of hand tools. Ability to lift 75-100 pounds; ability to climb ladders, steps and work in confined spaces.  Possession of a Wastewater Operators Grade I level certificate from the State Board for certifications and ability to secure a Wastewater Operators Grade II level certification within 24 months of employment.  Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina.  Hiring decisions made without regard to race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin or disability.   Excellent benefits package.
