Director of Human Resources

The City of Lumberton is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resources Professional.  The successful applicant must have a comprehensive knowledge of the philosophy, principles and practices of public personnel administration; thorough knowledge of the sources of current information in human relations and related fields; ability to present ideas effectively, either orally or in written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, supervisors and employees and general public; ability to conduct detailed analytical evaluations and studies, and to prepare related reports and recommendations.  Attends and participates in City Council meetings, departmental meetings, workshops and conferences. Have a command of human resources laws, rules and regulation at all levels and knowledge of human resources best practices.

Bachelor’s Degree in Personnel Management, Public Administration or related field, plus 3-5 years of experience in public or quasi-public sector personnel administration or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Master’s Degree and or PHR/SPHR certification preferred.  Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina.  Salary DOQ.  Excellent benefits package.  Position open until filled.
