The Mission of the Lumberton Recreation Department is to provide, operate, supervise and maintain a system of parks, playgrounds, facilities, and programs as a public service for the benefit of community morals, happiness, and welfare.
The Lumberton Recreation Department is located in the Bill Sapp Center located at 1100 North Cedar Street.
Lumberton Parks and Recreation Department offers the residents of Lumberton many diverse recreational opportunities. Facilities range from small community play-lots to a large natural park filled with trails.
Operating hours for the main office are Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The gym inside the facility is available for open play most days between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Activity Centers are located throughout the city to include the Pine Street Activity Center which houses the majority of all Senior Citizen programs offered by the Lumberton Recreation Department and the Parkview Activity Center that mainly offers programs directed towards the youth. This facility offers a gym, pool tables, ping-pong tables, a weight room and activity rooms.
Lumberton Recreation Department also offers activities for the outdoorsman. Luther Britt Park, located in West Lumberton, offers two lakes, totaling 35 acres of water that allow for fishing, swimming and boating. Nature trails and picnic facilities are also available.

Lumberton Community Relations Committee is seeking food vendors for the Family Fourth Celebration on the evening of Thursday, July 2. Event to be held at Lumberton High School Football Stadium. Interested vendors should contact Tanya Underwood at 671-3962. A limited number of qualified vendors will be selected to participate. Deadline to contact Mrs. Underwood is June 15, 2015.
